New Backers Accelerate Carbon Capture R&D Project in Wales

Aberystwyth, February 6th 2023

Nellie technologies are pleased to announce a new R&D project to be carried out in Wales, United Kingdom.

Following the development and deployment of their pre-prototype bioreactor, Welsh carbon capture company Nellie Technologies has successfully secured funding from the Experiment.com platform to advance the core science of their carbon dioxide removal system and realise significant efficiency gains.

Stephen Milburn, Nellie’s Founder and CEO comments:

"This exciting project will see us back in the lab honing the chemical and biological composition of our carbon capture process."

Further:

"The funding from the Experiment.com platform accelerates our science and, even in the preparation phase, has already led to significant efficiencies in our measurement and control processes."

FootPrint Coalition's Science Engine is a new fast grants initiative to support researchers working on technologies combatting our climate and biodiversity crises.

David Lang, Head of the Experiment Foundation delivering the funding says:

"The Fast Grants response to COVID-19 proved that science funding could move much faster. We're building on that insight and adding even more transparency and immediacy for funding high-risk, high-reward ideas."

The results of this specific R&D project will be disseminated publicly on the Experiment.com platform in the spirit of open and collaborative innovation in the fight to mitigate the effects of climate change.
