Nellie Wins Double at the 2025 Wales STEM Awards

Nellie Technologies is proud to have taken home two major accolades at this year’s Wales STEM Awards, winning both the STEM Start-Up of the Year and STEM Sustainability Award 2025.

Held at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff and hosted by broadcaster Lucy Owen, the awards celebrated outstanding innovation and leadership across Wales’ thriving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics sectors.

Nellie was recognised for its pioneering carbon removal systems that combine engineering and biology to capture CO₂ and transform it into sustainable products such as biochar and biofertiliser. Founded in South Wales, Nellie is building scalable, measurable solutions that support the UK’s transition to a net-negative economy.

“Our team is deeply honoured to be recognised among so many inspiring innovators,” said Stephen Milburn, Founder & CEO. “These awards are a testament to the hard work and vision of everyone at Nellie, and to the role Welsh innovation plays in driving global sustainability.”
